ONE bad grade...

hey everybody

how much does getting a C+ in IB HL Math (calc) in 2nd semester junior year hamper chances at schools like northwestern, university of chicago, cornell, columbia? the rest of my stats are pretty on par with the stats that many people have who are accepted into those schools, standardized tests are particullary good (act=34)

Also, do these competitive schools look at the first semester of senior year in considering applications...cuz if i get an A in math and it shows up for them..it wud be helpful

Yeah, they look at your first semester grades.

Is your cumulative grade still a B? My school only reports final grades. If not, though, the C+ will hurt.

so....if i got a A for IB calc 2 in my first semester of junior year...it would look nice because of the improvement and show that my C+ was a major screw up?

I would be most concerned with Columbia because of its high selectivity. Your midyear grades for senior year will be reported to colleges. If your application is on the fence, so to speak, stellar grades will help.

Make sure your essays are excellent - if a C+ is the only blot on your application, you certainly have a decent shot at your list of schools (you do have a safety, right?).

dont stress
