I am a freshman at a t20 college
First semester I had a 3.95, I was heavily involved in a sport that took up the almost all my time.

Second semester I got a 3.46, I feel that it dropped due to pledging a fraternity and continued involvement in my sport and involvement in another club.
Would one subpar semester lower my chances at a t10 law school. Right now my cumulative average is a about a 3.7, I anticipate about a 3.8 next semester as I only took 300 level classes this year so I am used to upper level course work. I am also a URM.

Does one bad semester affect chances at a top school?

Relax, you'll be fine.

3.46? That's terrible. You'd be lucky to get a job at McDonald's after graduation, let alone get into law school. You might as well just drop out now and save the money you're wasting on tuition.

I think it definitely isn't good, it only puts me in the 65th or so percentile of my class. Does anybody else get the impression that everyone at their school inflates their grades causing everyone to think everyone is performing much better than them?

Don't stress about it; instead make a plan to conquer it. What weaknesses did you notice this semester? Youtube addiction? Install Leechblock add-on for firefox. Worked too many hours? Work less hours next year. Bad study habits? Find a new environment to study in, and try to set aside time just for studying. Etc.

Worrying about it is no good; the only thing you can do now is change. :)
