Hi, I had a really bad semester last semester and only got a 1.6 gpa
i transferred and it was my first semester there
at my old school, I had a 3.0 GPA which is decent though not the best
i'm in engineering

honestly, it's hard to get a 4.0 in engineering, but if I were to get a 3.2 gpa every semester for 4 semesters or a decent GPA, would I still have a shot at graduate school and also getting a decent job
or am I permanently screwed because of one bad semester?
I was having severe financial and personal issues at the time and it was very overwhelming

they said I could have dropped the semester, but I didn't know at the time, so am I now screwed, or do I hav ea chance if I get above a 3.0 in every semester after?

if I get a 2.7 overall (the 1 semester brought down my gpa) and get a 3.2 or higher in my future semesters, I still have a shot at a grad school or employer who has a 3.0 minimum, right
will they discard that one semester or will they take it into consideration? Thanks.

A grad school would look at your transcript and realize it’s one bad semester, and would mostly discount it.

However, if by grad school you mean PhD, even without the bad semester, a 3.2 isn’t gonna cut it. Might be okay for Masters though.

An employer that requires a certain GPA requires a certain GPA, but not all employers do.

cool
i’m saying masters
not phd because i won’t do research or be a professor
but a master’s can help you for the rest of your career

i’m saying those employers that are like 3.0 or higher gpa

Some employers will say they have a GPA cut off when they don’t really. Some really do. If you don’t meet the cutoff stated, you can apply anyway, but most likely they’re not going to talk to you.

If your average GPA from here on out is a 3.2 (and presumably slightly higher in IOE classes) then you’ll probably get into Michigan’s IOE program, but I wouldn’t take it as a guaranteed admission with only that. To use the words often used here, it would be like a “strong match” in my opinion.

dude, vlad, can we meet up sometime on campus and talk in person, haha? share strategies and stuff, etc?
how’s 316/366
373 (i’m a *****ty programmer)
310

how much do you study per day?
