Aight, I'm worried about getting a C in my AP Chem class, even though I have all A's in everything else...I pretty much suck at science but I've never gotten a C before. How much does this reflect on me? I've gotten like 5 B's in total...all in science and one sem of spanish.

I don’t know how it will affect you, but the grading period isn’t over, right? So you still have time to pull it up. No matter what, don’t give up. Worry about how it will reflect on you after you actually have the C. If you have at least a 75 then you can pull of a 79.5 (That rounds up in my school, hope it’s like that for you.)

Depends where you want to go to school, but IN GENERAL, 1 C should NOT make or break your application at all.

I want to attend Georgetown University. My only interests revolve around politics and I feel as though chemistry isn’t relevant to my interests…but still, it’s gonna be hard to pull up my C to a B. Like I said, I already have 5 B’s, which has affected my rank. I’m still pretty good (top 4%) but I feel as though this C can harm me.

If you have one C and all A’s, that’s probably okay. If you have one C, 5 B’s and the rest A’s, however, that’s going to affect your chances.

Well, I got 5 B’s accumulated over the time I’ve been in high school…not this semester but thanks!

The C will affect your GPA, and thus your class rank. Will you still be in the top 10% at graduation? If you fall into the 20% or lower, that could affect your GU admissions.

Although you indicate your preference for for studying politics, colleges want to see overall excellence, and the ability to succeed in all classes. You will have core requirements that are not politics, so will need to demonstrate ability in science and math as well. Politics majors will need to succeed in college economics classes as well.

I can do fine in economics and maybe math…all depends. I prefer the focus over the overall excellence. I hear a lot about focus vs. diversity and to be honest, I have no idea who is right. I’ll still be like top 5% by the time I graduate.

Georgewashington isn’t Ivy League. Youre’ fine.

You mean Georgetown? If so, thanks!
