My senior year grades were 4 As, and 3 Bs, and I got accepted to a top 20 school. But now, second semester due to athletic commitments, my AP Physics Grade dropped to a C. It's practically impossible now to pull that up to a B. All other classes are As and Bs. Is this grounds for getting rescinded?

Depends on the school.

No you shouldn't get rescinded for 1 C....what will you average be for the year in that class, if you get a C for one semester

your acceptance will not get rescinded. I talked to my college counselor about this. it's only if you have multiple Cs or fail a class. my friend got a C in Calc ab first semester and she didn't get rescinded from her school (also in the top twenty). The colleges know that AP classes are hard (esp. AP Physics I can imagine!).

Well I'm in the same boat as you, maybe worse. I'm looking at multiple Cs (got into Caltech).

Try and dig up the topic i posted about a week ago here, it has a lot of other people opinnions. Tbh, from what they said it doesnt sound like you're in danger.

In fact, I'm probably not either, and I'm facing a possible D

o_0

What if I didn't fail a class, but lost the course credit because of poor attendance? And that course is not a core subject (Art).

haha silenced

talk about major senioritis eh?

mmm i heard that for a university california school, you can't get anything lower than a B-, and must keep a 3.0

true? i dunno
i hope not.. i have a few borderlines :(

A C in AP Physics will not get you rescinded.

AP Physics is a really hard course. My test average this term was something like a D+, I ended up getting a B based on my 100% on homework assignments and in class assignments. In our class of 22 kids, 4 are getting As or A-s this term, 12 are getting Bs, and 6 are getting C's,D's, F's(I know this because my teacher anonymously posts our grades, so we can all check what other kids are getting without knowing specifically who is getting what grade)

Once you get two C's you should get worried, one C is no big deal.

I'm gonna get an F in gym for my final semester, but only because I was unable to get an incomplete/authorized absence for a totally valid reason. My GC will explain the situation.

I'm just curious though...even were I not to get my GC to explain, how does a university look at a failure in a non-academic course (and graduating high school does not affect me--Penn admissions has assured me that I do not need to get my diploma to enroll, since we have an extra year here in Quebec)?

More relevant to the OP's question, the final school report for Penn asks the GC if there are any Ds or Fs on the transcript. So I assume that even a couple Cs would be okay.

...even were I not to get my GC to explain, how does a university look at a failure in a non-academic course .......

I also like to know!!! Does anyone have ideas?

***** No.

You have to, like, fail out for them to rescind their offer.

What if the credit of a non-academic course is taken away due to poor attendance?

I think colleges only see your final grades anyways. My school goes in quarters...so even if i got A,A,C,C they would only see a B on my final report card.

Long as you don't fail all your classes, I think you'll be fine.. just try to keep your average at least at a B...(that's what i'm shooting for.. damn senioritis)
