One Day or Full Program Orientation?

I signed up for the one day, and would just like to know from people who have already had their orientation whether or not there is any solid reason (such as placement tests) I would need to attend the full program?

Are there any class signup/tests/necessary tasks… that you cover extra two days of the full program? Since food isn’t covered in the one-day orientation, do I bring my own lunch? Do I just finish up everything in the day long orientation without needing to drive back the extra days?

Thanks for the answers. Please, I’d really rather do the one day, though, so specifically addressing my questions with solid answers instead of trying to persuade me to change to the full program will be appreciated.

Thank you again!

You were misinformed, bud. There is no one day orientation. There is the “full program”, where you stay in Tercero, and just the daytime program. you’ll need to be there every day of orientation if you want all of the information, but you’ll stay off campus if you opt out of the full program.

I went in group 1 of College of Letters and Sciences and met a lot of people. Had a great time. Go for the full program, you won’t regret it.

Ah ok, I was mistaken in thinking “program-only” meant only a one-day program.

On the site it says the orientation starts at 1 pm, is this the same for the consecutive days (so I know if I decide to drive the other days)?

Since you went ahead and suggested it despite my note…would I still be able to change my orientation reservation at this point? I’m signed up for the Aug 1-3 for Bio Sci.

I wouldn’t know if you can change! Call them tomorrow morning!

The placement exams were in the morning, and there were some other lectures and stuff. You’ll be there the whole day.

Hey, I created an account to provide information for ya!

I, too, was in Grp 1 of the College of Letters&Sciences and I’ll give a general outline of the 3 days.

You get to Davis on the first day, and reception begins at 1. Get there a bit early to A) Get your UCD PHOTO ID, B) Put Stuff in your temporary dorm, C) Meet new people that you can spend the 3 days with.

On the first day, you will be introduced to the school, get acquainted with others and your ORIENTATION LEADER (OL), and such. MAKE SURE YOU PAY ATTENTION TO EVERYTHING BECAUSE YOU GET FREE STUFF FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS  End of first day is at the gym, which you have unlimited access to for a few hours.

2nd DAY. Math placement exam starts at 8am. Chemistry exam starts at 10am. Take Math at home (via the email they sent u), and be knowledgeable with chemistry (no need to study if you actually took the course). What happens if you fail the test is that you have to take remedial courses.

Then, there’s a ridiculously long assembly involving many informational showcases, such as Housing, Financial Aid, etc etc. Well, for that, not many ppl knew, but you can leave whenever you want. I suggest staying in case you have any questions. The night ends with the arcade/hangout which you can pay 5 dollars for unlimited arcade/bowling/billiards etc. You can choose to not pay and just chill with everyone else who didn’t pay.

Third day is class registration, which your OL goes over with you in the previous 2 days. Make sure you listen to your OL, as he/she is the key to an academically successful Orientation. TIP:::::::::::::: YOU HAVE NO CURFEW AND FEW RESTRICTIONS, STAY UP AND ENJOY YOUR NEW FRIENDS. WALK TO DOWNTOWN IF U WISH. PLAY CARDS, SHARE STORIES. :DDDD

P.P.S: Bring snacks/junk food to eat with your new friends, it’s really important ahaha

Any other info you need, email me! chobilly82@gmail.com or leave a msg on my College Confidential account…I have no idea how it works though.

Oh well, thanks. It’s moot now, too late to change the reservation from the program only to the full thing.
