One deadline is earlier than the next. Accept now and if changed mind, reject after?

One of the colleges I applied to has a deadline in May while another one has it in June. Since the May one is inching up fast and I'm still not sure if I want to go there (some days I want to, other days not so much), should I accept their offer now to meet the deadline and if I end up deciding on the other school, withdraw my acceptance? I know the deposit is non-refundable. Besides losing the deposit, are there any repercussions associated with doing this (eg Financial Aid changes for the other college)?

If you do that, you could end up getting your admission revoked at both colleges. Call them and see for yourself.

Placing a deposit at both schools at the same time is very much frowned upon, but placing a deposit at one first and then withdrawing before paying the second deposit should be fine.

Why go through this kind of hassle? Sit down, seriously think about it, maybe talk to your parents, and make a decision.

@GoldShadow,

The thing is, I want to go to the school that has a deadline in June but the one in May is offering a loan-free financial aid package to me, whereas the June school, I'm going to have to take out about $5k a year in loans...

jtoc06, that situation's not going to change between now and June. As long as you have all the information you need, putting off the decision will only create more anxiety. Make the decision. You'll feel a tremendous relief when you do.

I agree with Chedva. It's a hard choice but it's going to be just as hard today as tomorrow. If you need to, take a day off of school and just sit around all day thinking about what your life will be like at/after each school, etc.
