And of course the application form- is it ok to be exactly the same for every univ, or maybe similar to it?

<p>I guess it's OK, but not a good idea. You should learn the specifics about what each school is looking forward and make sure the essay reflects that in some way. Of course you don't want to make the essay a list of how you fit all the qualities places want, but you also don't want to, for example, write about your love of music to a place with basically no music program.</p>
<p>I thought that once an essay is attached to the on line Common Application and submitted to a school, that it is locked in and you cannot change it.
Am I wrong on that point ?</p>
<p>In any event, I guess you could still write different essays for the respective school's supplemental application if the schools have such suppl. applications and request essays...</p>
<p>Your 'personal statement' should be specific enough to you to send to any school. Your 'why college x' and 'what would you bring to college x' essays obviously should be written for individual schools.</p>
