SevenDad lives!
Hello all. I haven’t been on the forum in forever but got a message from a parent yesterday and figured I’d post just to bump this.
Kids are all fine…7D1 in second year of her STEM PhD, 7D2 in Junior year of college…weird year for her as sports have been impacted a lot by COVID. But so far we’re all managing to stay healthy and safe. Hoping all of you are well.
Best of luck to the applicants in this year’s BS admission cycle!
JUST REALIZED THIS THREAD IS ALMOST 10 YEARS OLD. WOW.

Thanks for the update. Your threads were so helpful when DS (now thriving as a college Freshman) was first thinking of applying to BS…and for years after!

I got paged on another thread and figured I’d update this one…
7D1: In third year of STEM PhD, recently bought a house…with her fiancé (how’s that for burying the lede!) Wedding in about a month.
7D2: Graduated from college in May, had a pretty good final season of NCAA fencing after taking a year off from the travel squad. Currently following in her old man’s footsteps on Madison Avenue (not literally, though…most of the cool agencies are on other avenues these days).
Not on the forum much of late, but will generally chime in if paged.

Recently had dinner with my BS-grads (two different meals, alas).
7D1’s wedding (to college BF) was a beautiful day all around. Exhausting, but wonderful. Father-daughter dance was to “More I Cannot Wish You” from Guys & Dolls (we edited out the "lickerish tooth part…because what the hell does that mean?!?), as sung by Johnny Hartman. Couples’ first dance was to the Peter Gabriel version of “The Book of Love” (Magnetic Fields/Stephin Merritt) which I had never heard (or even known of) until that day and it blew. my. mind.

After a summer internship at a large Omnicom network agency and working part-time as a hostess at one of the better new restaurants in NYC, 7D2 finally locked down a full-time job at mega-agency and lives in Brooklyn. Enjoying herself and life the city, I think.
