One in the hand, two in the bush...

I have a couple of questions.

First: I'm kind of playing around with what to major in, and I'm leaning towards Bacteriology (Microbiology). However, the school I'm attending next year (UW-Madison) offers the major in both the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Letters and Science. What's the difference?

Second: I'm interested in getting a humanities degree; however, I want a shot at gainful employment following graduation (just kidding, kind of). Would minoring in something like English or Philosophy help my chances in Med-School applications?

Thanks for the help.

at my school the difference between microbio in the college of agriculture and college of liberal arts and science is that you have to take 2 semesters of a language in CLAS

no, they don't care about minors or double majors
