One last chance before picking out apps! UF, Tulane, FSU, UCF

Hi! From Arizona. Last updated chance thread before filling out applications!

My top schools would definitely be Tulane and UF. With FSU and Arizona State coming in behind.. Chance me as an out of stater?

Stats:
GPA: 3.68 (uw) upward trend, 2.8 uw freshman year... (All A's this last semester!)

APs: AP Lang & Comp (5), AP Government (5), AP Macroecon (5)..My senior year I will be taking AP Physics B, AP Bio, DE Pre-calc H, AP Lit.

Awards:
Not much here.. placed on All-state team for Mock Trial.. AP Scholar if that means anything..

ASU is my safety. Reed is the college I'm applying to no matter what y'all say. Dream school and free application, I guess... if I get rejected, no biggie. But UF, Tulane and FSU are up in the air! Chance?

Tulane - low reach
UF - low match
FSU - high match
UCF - high match

Just curious, why are you applying to 3 schools in Florida?

UCF you have a great chance, FSU you have a good chance. UF likes people in the top 10% of your graduating class. Does that fit you? Does your high school have weighted GPA? That should be over 4.0 for a good shot. UF doesn’t admit a lot of OOS students also, but your stats give you a good shot.

I would send your SAT and ACT. If you have a chance to retake your SAT, I would. Shoot for 2000+.

I’m not too familiar with Tulane, but your scores seem slightly lower than the average freshmen they admit. I’m sure you’ll get into almost every school on your list.

Your EC’s are pretty decent for these schools, as with your test scores. Your GPA is your weak point, but I still say these schools are matches.

Take what I say with a grain of salt though, I am only 16 and a rising senior.

By the way, could you chance me back? I would really appreciate it! ^_^

I actually am in the top 15%. But that may not be completely accurate as my school doesn’t release specific rank, like 90/400 or something. My GPA, weighted, is currently a 4.0. Not too good, but that’s cumulative. Our school doesn’t tell us our solely academic GPA. (Which I guess would be more influenced by the weighted classes…but also would drop due to poor academic performance freshman year). I’m applying to schools in Florida because I was born there, my parents did the pre-paid college tuition plan. Does that help or hurt? Probably hurts because our family paid tuition as it was in 1996, hahah.

Oh, well if your parents did the Florida pre-paid, I would strongly suggest you save your parents money and go to college in Florida. Granted I’m not entirely familiar with how it works, but I don’t think the inflated costs since 1996 will affect you. I’m guessing that you get tuition covered regardless. A question I have is if it still covers you if you’re out of state now. If you don’t utilize the Florida pre paid then its almost like your parents already paid for your tuition for a school you didn’t attend. I’m biased, but I wouldn’t be able to turn down UF if I were you(if you’re accepted).

Yeah! It still counts. We move around a lot, and I think we were even still paying for it when we first moved out of state. I would love to go to UF, it’s just that big IF I’m accepted… you know? Going somewhere like Tulane wouldn’t be a huge financial strain on the family, as we’re pretty well off. And I actually feel like it’d be more likely for Tulane to accept me… than UF.

Reed: Reach

I know! Haha a pretty big one at that. Ah well, Portland and Reed are just so cool.

Oh, well if you’re family is well off, disregard that post. Go wherever you want that your parents will pay for.

sigh

After seeing this –<a href=“Freshman - How To Apply - University of Florida”>http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/ugrad/frprofile.html</a></p>

I have determined there’s pretty much no chance as I will have only taken 18 academic classes by the end of my high school career. Thanks for y’alls help, though.
