Opinions on how hard/feasible this is going to be?

Math 103
Egr 53
Egr 20
Physics 62

Ballet (3 times a week) and a music group (either orchestra, jazz ensemble, or wind ensemble)

And I'm hoping to still have time to join some clubs

Any comments would be really helpful! I've been stressing over my schedule for a while now. I don't want to completely overload myself first semester.

Thanks so much!

ONE MORE THING:

How long does it typically take to get from East Campus (Ark Studio) to the Physics building? My schedule as of now allows 10 minutes.

math 103 is going to be a lot of work, but it really depends on the professor.

For Egr 53, as long as you are sort of knowledgeable about programming (like it won't matter that you know matlab as much as you know the basic structure of programming), you will be fine (although the first assignment on Latex took me a while)

Egr 20... there's really nothing for that class.. you just attend a lecture a week and they introduce you to the different fields of engineering at Duke.

And I agree with daniel about physics 62.

And I don't know too much about ballet but umm I don't think you can get to ark studio to physics in 10 minutes especially if it is during perk bus time.

So physics 62 would have two hours of recitation (quiz every week) and two hours of lab per week. I think Egr 53 has 1 hour of recitation and 3 hours of lab each week along with the regular 2.5 hours of lecture per week with each class.

It's been a while since I took egr 53 and I know Dr.G has changed the format quite a bit based on student feedback so I am not sure how challenging the recitations and labs are now...

It sounds kind of challenging but you got into Duke for a reason, so don't let it scare you but I would definitely talk to Dean Simmons when you get to campus

EGR53: labs and recitations aren't challenging so much as they are designed for you to think. They aren't impossible just sometimes time consuming in that you need to code then do latex for your reports. As long as you don't fall behind, then you should be fine. my advice is to plan out a block of time (ex: friday afternoons) once a week and dedicate it to EGR53. It shouldn't be too hard. Also, if you are stuck, absolutely ask for help from the TAs, there are 30-some TAs during the fall and they hold office hours for 3-4 hours almost everyday on west. They have all the answers and are perfectly willing to explain everything to you (don't straight out ask for answers though) so take advantage.

Math 103: do all your homeworks, don't fall behind, and ask for help if you need it. The difficulty of this class does depend on the professor, but no matter what, you still need to work for your grade.

EGR 20: nothing to it, show up for lecture.

Physics 62: if it's anything like physics 61 then it's somewhat time intensive in that you've got recitation, lecture, lab, and maybe weekly problem sets. Budget your time accordingly.

To get from east to west, I'd usually budget 20-30 minutes in case the buses are a bit slow or you have to walk a bit or simply not to feel too rushed. If you can grab a C3 from East to Science Drive, then I'd imagine you can get from Ark to Physics much quicker.
