When they say "deadlines" are November 1st for early action, they mean that they have to be postmarked by the 1st, not received, correct? Likewise, college board scores can be received some time after November 1st, and teacher recommendations as well? Thank you. :-[

SAT scores can be sent after November 1st, because the October ones won't be available to you in time. I'm not sure about postmarked vs. received, but I would get them out with ample time to spare... this is not an occasion to brush close to deadlines : )

I am having teachers send in recs soon, and my school transcripts have already been sent, as well as my SAT scores, but I won't be able to send in my actual application until late October (around the 28th). I suppose I could have it rush-sent no problem, but would not having it in until November 1st adversely affect my chances? :-/

I tried to talk to my GC about this today but she was in a meeting. I can have the app sent and my essay done by end of October, but my teacher rec might not be. One teacher told me he wouldn't have it ready by Nov. 1st because I didn't get a form to him in time (thought I just had to tell him, I also had to give him my resume) My other teacher thinks he will be done soon, but got inundated with recs. The EA schools only asked for one rec, so maybe it will be okay. I'm going to call the schools myself and ask tomorrow. Word of mouth said "postmarked" but I want to get it from the school.
I know every EA school I checked said the October SAT/ACT scores would be fine.

Ah, if you could tell me what you hear, that'd be fabulous. Thank you.

november sats are also ok i think

I called Fordham today and they said if I didn't have my rec in time, it was okay, just send it ASAP. They prefer the SAT October scores for EA, but will use any later ones for merit scholarship consideration, honors college, etc. I also got a free application today but I would have to send a different essay. The 3 topics they have on theirs wasn't mine. Might be worth it to write another, than use the common app which has any topic. (I know my parents would think so)
I didn't have time to call any other schools, but I will double check with them also.

As for as EA for Yale, they said that the October SAT/ACT was fine, but not the Nov. If you have SAT scores already, you can take SATll's in November though. They said although they "usually" recieve Nov. SAT scores in time, they can't guarantee it and you could be put in the RD pile. It is postmarked too,not received, but again, the earlier the better. One mom I know told me she spent more money on overnight mailing at the postoffice than applications! Procrastination can be expensive.

I hope the collegeboard does'nt experience delays and sends the nov sats in on time!!
