Our plans are set to visit University of Mary Washington, Goucher and McDaniel. We have time to visit one more school that falls between UMW and Baltimore. (Son has a 3.1 GPA and a 30 on ACT) Any suggestions???

Mount St. Mary's, Loyola, UMBC, Towson. My daughter is at Stevenson - I can tell you about that, another is a MSM grad.

what is he looking for in a school? I forget - is a 30 ACT like a 1250-1300?

And what does he want to study? (I don't see much overlap in MW, Goucher, McDaniel.)

Marymount U in Arlington, Catholic U in DC

Hood is in Frederick, MD just off US 15 (which you'd continue on northward to get to Mt. St. Mary). The campus is pretty, and downtown Frederick has some rather nifty antique stores and a bunch of nice local diners and coffee shops.

I don't have personal experience with UMBC but read wonderful things about it. We did look at St. Mary's College of Maryland--also considered quite the little jewel.

I would ditto Hood - some nice merit aid options for someone with your S's stats

My son is interested in biology. We are mostly looking for schools that have under 5,000 students. He is not into sports so that is not important.

His counselor came up with the schools for him to visit. I think they were looking to give him some variety. I'll check out some of the suggestions.

Any thoughts on the 3 we have scheduled???

Mary Washington and Goucher have more in common with each other than with McDaniel, although they are different; obviously all three are considered LACs. Your S will have a gender advantage in admissions at Goucher, a former women's college still desperate to balance their ratio. I would recommend St. Mary's (another public LAC) for the last visit, but I don't know if it fits geographically within your trip.
