One of the classes I took this past semester doesnt fit any of AMCAS categories for..

GPA calculation. It does not fit any of the "Special Course types" as outlined by AMCAS. This class that i took matches the closest to the category of "Exempt" as outlined on page 44. The special course types begins on page 42 of the instructional manual for the AMCAS: https://www.aamc.org/students/download/182162/data/amcas_instruction_manual.pdf

This class that i took is my EMT training class offered by my university. This past semester i took 9 credits worth of academic classes (upper level bio, gen chem, and another elective), which is below the 12 credit full time status requirement set forth by the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS). However, SAS at my university does not approve the EMT class to have any academic credits and so this class has the designation of "E-credits". The EMT class is worth 6 E-credits, which are just there to help me achieve full time status. So technically, even tho i took 9 academic credits, I had 15 credits to help me achieve the >12 credit full time status requirement. However, when grades came out, I had A's in all my academic credits classes but B's in the EMT training class. Therefore, my GPA for the semester was a 4.0 despite having the B's in the EMT class. However, my official transcript does list the grades for the EMT training as well as the credits (there's two sections of it that my transcript lists--a 4 credit section and a 2 credit section, both of which are indicated with B's). My transcript ALSO LISTS THE "E CREDIT" DESIGNATION. Under the key in my transcript, it says classes with "E-credit" designation are not to be counted towards GPA and Graduating credits. So this is where the confusion comes in. AMCAS makes no special consideration for this type of class and so I do not know if this class will be factored into my AMCAS GPA. I've called a couple medical schools and both have said that they will use whatever my school's designation is. However, still I'm not convinced because the EMT class looks like any other class on my transcript except for the "E credit" designation. Do you guys have any experience with this?

the offical designation of “E credits” classes is the following: “Credits do not count toward degree.” This is meant to imply that credits are also not factored into the College GPA.

anyone got any answers for me?

bump!! PLEASE!! guys im kind of freaking out right now …i really don’t want this class to affect my GPA

Bummpp!! Come on! No one knows?
