One or two letters of recommendation for WPI and Northeastern common app?

I am weighing pros and cons of submitting a second letter of recommendation.

I currently have two I could send in:
STEM teacher: This recommendation is 2 pages and it is a glowing recommendation. Most of it is observations about the way I learn, how I do, etc. Only two of the paragraphs are filled with the generic stuff.

Non STEM teacher: Pretty generic. It says I am humble and that I have high “moral standards” “surrounds himself with like-minded individuals” “not easily influenced by peers”. I can’t decide if this is a good recommendation because it doesn’t exactly make me look accepting. Other than that one paragraph it is pretty good and decently better than generic.

My thing is my application would be MUCH weaker if they only paid good attention to my Spanish letter. I would much rather them focus on my calculus one, but I also don’t want it to seem like she is the only teacher who admires me.

Both of these schools have 1 required and more as optional. Do you think I should submit both? Could the 2nd one hurt me?

It depends. It’s best to send it in if you believes it showcases at different side of you that the rest of your application doesn’t cover. Otherwise, don’t. AdComs don’t want extra work to do on top of the thousands of apps they must read.

WPI says two are required. https://www.wpi.edu/admissions/undergraduate/apply/how-to/application-deadlines

I think it benefits you to submit a STEM rec and a Non-STEM rec. It will show dimension. Good luck. They are both great schools and you cannot go wrong at either one if you can swing the cost.
