one parent went to college

I know that, at some schools, it could be a hook if both parents did not attend college, but what if only one parent did not attend college? Is that still a hook?

bumb................

No I wouldn't think so. "First generation college student" means you are the first to go.

does community college count? lol. my mom went to community college.

Wow, that sort of sucks. My mom didn't go to college, but my dad did. He went to college in Pakistan though, which is vastly different, and his degree was worth nothing here.

I think that should count for something, but since colleges are lame and whatnot, I guess it doesn't!

Oh well ;-)

same here, my dad went to a community college and my mom did not attend college. I was hoping that would count for something at some highly selective colleges.

Yeah, that doesn't matter. However, being rich or a celebrity does matter! Maybe you can donate enough money to create a building.

i think it matters to an extent. they'll see your family still has limited education background.
