One question from a deferred hopeful...

So yeah, I got deferred by Cornell AEM. I would just like to know what are the chances of getting accepted by Cornell for a deferred student, what are the chances of getting a GT from Cornell, and how I can make my resume more meaningful or interesting during the three-month waiting period while on a very tight budget. My main interests are mathematics, tutoring, and choir, and I have dabbled in drawing, creative writing, photographic imaging, web designing, graphic imaging, cooking, dancing, and tennis. Thanks to all who respond back.

Bumpity bump up.

no one really knows because stats on this arent made public. Good luck though.

i was deferred AEM too. I am an international by the way. whre are you from vinhkhoi?

Well, I’m from the Northeast USA.

anyone can tell what defer means for AEM applicants? (since it is the most competitive major?)

My friend’s son was deferred for AEM last year with a 3.7 and 2150. He was later given GT. He is from NY, and private school.

AEM may be easier this year because of financial industry melt down.

I would send another packet to Cornell - latest transcript, another recommendation, a letter of interest (include addition awards or ECs).

I doubt AEM is easier this year. It’s in CALS so NY students get the tuition discount so competition is going to be fierce as always (11% acceptance rate last year).

will it be easier for international students?? esp for those who do not ask for financial aid?
