One Quick Question...

Hello,

How does a 620 in CR on the SAT look beside a 5 on the AP English Lang exam??
(SAT Score: 2140: CR: 620, M: 600, W: 750)

Thanks!!!

It looks like perhaps you had a bad day on the SAT and should therefore take it again if you are interested in selective schools.

Also, your SAT score listed above looks like you should check your math, as 620 plus 600 plus 750 = 1970, not 2140.

Sorry,
My score:
CR: 620, M: 770, W: 750
I took the SATs twice, the 2nd time I went down A LOT in Math but CR stayed Exactly the same…

?..

You’re clearly capable of better in CR, especially with test prep. What schools are you aiming for?

Columbia, NYU, Villanova, Barnard, Drexel, Rutgers
These are some of the schools I’m aiming for.
Also, for SAT IIs I have:
Chem: 760
Math II: 680 (will retake most likely in October) along with maybe French SAT II…

One possibility in order to get a higher Reading score would be to try the ACT, which is offered in September and would still allow you to take SAT subject tests in October.

You’ll want to get it up for Columbia.

Buy the “Direct Hits” vocab books by Larry Kreiger and learn all of the words before you retake the test. I know I sound like an ad for the books but they really do work for the CR section. They are available on amazon.

Schools report their freshmen class’ avg SAT in each section for ranking purposes. They don’t really use SAT IIs for that, so the SAT sections are more important.

I think I’m going to aim with the score I already have…Actually i did buy and study from direct hits for the 2nd time I took the SATs, but my score stayed exactly the same…How do I amount for NYU? I know ECs would factor in…Also, is it true that NYU is not know for merit/financial aid?
Thanks!

NYU has awful fin aid. IIRC, it doesn’t give merit aid.

Your score is good for all the schools you’ve listed except for Columbia. If that’s your top school, then take it one last time.
