One surefire way you know you are a shoo-in for Harvard

Be a first-generation URM legacy athlete.

Good luck everyone. Only three days from tomorrow.
Here's to that dead horse which is the college application process.

first-generation URM legacy

first generation and legacy?

…^^^this.

I suppose the relatives could’ve been an uncle or something. Not sure if that still counts

Donate a new dorm/science laboratory to Harvard.

Beat Michael Phelp’s record gold medals.

Start a Fortune 500 company from scratch.

Cure Cancer.

Cure the Common Cold.

The possibilities are endless.

If you are the type of kid that permeates the halls of Harvard College I am not sure I want to attend. That was very ignorant of you, you had to be rejected, defered, or waitlisted for sure!!!

Lol first generation legacy… XD

You people and your sense of humor :stuck_out_tongue:
it’s a joke guys. I’m implying that no one’s a shoo in for harvard by means of a contradiction.

Also iamivyobsessed? Right back at you buddy ;D
Talk about an over-reaction, my little indian friend

@iamivyobsessed’s post

The amount of butthurt radiating from this post is nauseating

Be a part of the USA IMO team.

^not necessarily :P

Haha, someone questioned this before, but I stood by my statement.
I give you my original defense:

One could even argue curing cancer won’t guarantee acceptance. It may just not be what the admissions committee wants in the class. Who knows? In that way, Uppity is right - no one is a shoo-in for Harvard.
But being a part of the IMO team will certainly earn you major points with the adcom, and really, that’s all you can hope for.

I feel like this thread has detracted from my primary original purpose, which was to wish everyone good luck on their admission decisions, be it acceptance rejection or waitlist.

Yeah I think that was a very ignorant statement. Here i was thinking you actually had something substantial to say. If I want to hear ignorance all I need to do is watch Fox News thank you very much!

"I feel like this thread has detracted from my primary original purpose, which was to wish everyone good luck on their admission decisions, be it acceptance rejection or waitlist. "

Please take what he said in context. Its not about being ignorant. He was obviously joking (and made a bit of a fool out of himself while trying to do so lol)

If you didn’t get Uppity’s joke and you get into Harvard you need to sharpen you sense of humor. Generally speaking the student body is populated with very smart, witty and accomplished students who, thankfully, don’t take themselves too seriously.

Good luck to you all, I know its a stressful week.

Welll if he was just joking then i’m sure he could have made it slightly more clear. Haha. I like faerel spin on it…the common cold. I really wish someone could invent something for that right now!

Ahhh well I guess we are all a little uptight with admissions in a couple days. Pardon me Uppity. You tried your best to bring laughter and I respect that!! :D. Anyways goodluck!

LOL. Waiting12345…OnHarvardTime was my first thought when I saw your comment about Harvard’s sense of humor. X)
