One W on transcrips.. hurt chances?

So far my Gpa is a 3.6 I am in my second semester at a CC. I am looking to transfer to UCLA as a cognitive science major. For the pre-reqs i had a choice of Physics or Chemistry. I chose physics because it was the only class available. Now I am fearing that I will get a D or a C in the class. This can really hurt my gpa. Should I just take a W or risk getting that C or D?
How bad does one W look on a transcript? Will it hurt my chances of admittance?

The W isn’t the issue, but not completing pre-reqs. Just make sure you fill that requirement. Also, you might have better luck with this question in the “UC Transfers” area.

W isn’t good, but probably not as bad as a C or less.

I had a total of 8 W’s on my transcript and I just recently got accepted into the University of Illinois and University of Wisconsin - Madison. As long as you have your pre-reqs and a good gpa, W’s do not matter.
