ONE " W " on transcript

I'm 2nd year EE student. I'm taking this CSCI class, which is a newly added required course for my degree. Most of the students in my class is doing computer engineering which is definitely something i won't do! I'm doing pretty bad in this class(still passing). I think i'll end up getting a C or B- at most....

I talked to my advisor and he said i could take an extra EE course of my field of studying (probably Signal processing or Energy systems) and he will take care of the rest, meaning that if i drop this class i don't need to retake it. BUT I will have a W on my transcript for this class.I'm currently having a 3.86 GPA. I'm so worried that this W will lower my chances of getting into a prestigious grad school like stanford or princeton...

Could you guys give me some valuable suggestions!? THANKS A LOT!!!!

I don’t think W’s matter, but don’t quote me on it.

That said, for law school W’s can majorly make a difference. LSAC calculates GPA’s differently, and some W’s are calculated as F’s significantly dropping an applicants report LSAC GPA.

You will be fine. I have barely a 3.0 and a ton of Ws and Fs, from before I figured out that all my priorities were all jacked up. I have been accepted to every graduate school I applied to, including four top-35 public universities.

In short, don’t worry for a millisecond about a single W.
