Best of luck to everyone.

How about out of state?

Out of state semifinalist have already been posted and the finalist decision is also made on December 2 too

RBinNC…where are they posted?

Says on website “Those students nominated through the ARP will be notified by U.S. Mail on December 13, 2013.”

I dont know what ARP means, but the website says the decision will be made December 2 for oos final and is semi. I believe that the decisions are posted on your Morehead Cain login.

ARP is the program by which the admissions office picks OOS students for the scholarship. Just talked to Morehead-Cain office and they said ARP candidates will be notified Dec 13 by US mail.

Thanks, @bigbooklover. you beat me to the punch…

ARP is the Admissions Referral Program and is one way for out of state students to be considered for the Morehead-Cain scholarship. Here’s a note from the Director of Scholar Selection at The Morehead-Cain Foundation:

ILfather…It kind of sounds like that students that have to be nominated through the ARP process are sort of last picks. You have to hope that the admissions person who is looking at your application/essay thinks very highly of you. The process is strange because I live in San Diego and my high school does not nominate but the high school down the street does.

@bigbooklover, I agree that the nomination process is unorthodox. I didn’t realize until the end of September that most of the candidates for this scholarship were nominated by their schools. At that point, it was far too late to get my daughter’s school to make a nomination. I believe that after doing this for so many years, the Morehead-Cain Foundation probably has enough experience to not slight the out of state candidates coming through ARP.

The past years scholars seems to indicate that out of state candidates are not slighted, but I don’t know how many were nominated versus coming through ARP.

etc.

I agree that it is kind of awkward that your school doesn’t nominate for the Morehead-Cain scholarship but a school down the street does. I hope that doesn’t hurt your chances. Good luck!

one more week. good luck everyone

Not worried about the Morehead-Cain foundation more worried about the admissions office taking the time to really go through my application.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and good luck for Monday
