hello, I am an Asian student that want apply for Harvard medical school, before that I should study 1 year in a college in USA.
Would you help me about this? I wanna study English language in college. Do I need pass SAT?
In the US, medical school is a graduate school, meaning that you must first have an undergraduate degree in order to apply. An undergraduate degree in the US typically takes 4 years. If you want to go to college in the US for your undergraduate studies, you most likely will need the SAT or ACT, and the TOEFL which measures English proficiency.
does it related to age? I already have bachelor degree in laboratory medical science, but now I prefer to apply for medical school
now I am 32
As International applicant, your chances of getting into a US Medical school are extremely low since few International students are accepted.
You need to make sure you have completed all the Medical school course requirements which can vary from school to school, take the MCAT (Test required for Medical school applications) and have Medically related volunteering/shadowing/jobs before applying.
I suggest you post on the Pre-Med Forum for further information:
If you can finance medical school in the US (otherwise, don’t even consider applying), and if you want to study in the US for one year prior to medical school, then your best option is a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program.
They exist so that students can fill gaps between their undergraduate coursework and medical school admission requirements. The big advantage of these programs is that some of them have guaranteed-admission pathways to particular medical programs, provided that you achieve a certain GPA and certain MCAT scores.
I am not a big fan of stand-alone year-long English-as-a-foreign language programs for students who can do well enough on the TOEFL to gain admission to regular university programs. Anatomy and physiology classes will teach you the actual vocabulary you will need for medical school; generic English classes will not. You can also take one or two English classes in a post-bac pre-med program, since US medical schools typically require an English composition class for admission.
