<p>I'm an in-state junior, and throughout high school I took pretty hard courses and did well except for my sophomore year. My freshman year I got a 3.71, and this year I'm set to get a 3.57. These grades, combined with the SAT I took Dec. 1 (2220) and a good amount of EC's could give me a good shot for CP since I plan to apply at the priority deadline. BUT last year I completely bombed and got a 2.57. There's no real excuse for this like financial troubles or anything. I just didn't pay attention to my grades or study. It really hit me this year that I have to pick things up, so I tried to make up for it as much as I could. My overall GPA for high school is now a 3.28, and there's not really an upward trend since I peaked freshman year and didn't match it this year. I'm also not a urm and have no hooks. But does this gpa put me out of contention? How can I stress on my application that I improved this year?</p>
<p>Is this GPA weighted or unweighted? If it is weighted, it will be rather difficult for you to get into Maryland. If unweighted, I think you are fine considering your high SAT score.</p>

<p>OK. With a 4.2 weighted GPA and 2220 SAT score, I would be rather stunned if they rejected you.</p>

<p>Same thing happen to me my sophomore year about the same GPA and I’m instate as well. I got into Maryland even though this situation happened. So don’t worry so much about it. I would just focus on completing your junior year on a good note</p>
<p>Getting 2220 in the SAT is no joke, so I think you will get in just because you aced the SAT…3.2 GPA now will be bumped up to at least 3.4 if you do well in your first semester senior year and remaining junior year…so, no problem you will get in</p>

<p>But XtremePower, first-semester senior grades won’t figure in terps’ admissions decision. He plans to apply by the priority deadline, and Maryland won’t get a mid-year report from him.</p>
<p>3.28 uw and 4.2 w gpa? are you sure about w/ gpa? i ask because (assuming your school system uses 4.0 u.w. grading system) that means almost, if not all, of the courses you have taken in high school are either honors/AP courses. some school systems have mandatory requirements they do not offer honors/ap level courses. if 4.2 is correct, along with your sat score, i think you will be ok. good luck.</p>
<p>@EastCoast1 I just calculated and it actually rounds down to 4.1. I took the required courses my freshman year.</p>
