Hello,
I am currently a junior in high school who wants to be an Industrial Engineer. I live in Michigan, but there are not many schools in state that have IE major. UMich has it but my GPA is not high enough and it is really competitive (3.6 UW). I have taken a couple of honors and AP Courses, and I have a fair amount of ECs. I will apply, but the likelihood of getting in is low frankly. My GPA is decent and it would be good enough for MSU which I would be happy to go to but they do not have my major. I don’t really like Wayne or Oakland, and there really is no other in state option that interests me at all. There really is not any other major I want to pursue, but nearby out of state schools like UIUC and Purdue have excellent programs for Industrial Engineering and I really like those colleges. I can most likely get into both. The issue is that OOS is extremely expensive. Would it be possible if I complete community college in Michigan for one year and then transfer to UIUC or Purdue. I really want to gain the social college experience so I don’t want more than one year of CC. Thanks!
Michigan Tech has industrial engineering and is a very good school. Have you checked them out?
