One year transfers?!?!

Have any one year transfers heard back from any of the UCs yet?

Nope, although I’m a one year CCC transfer originally from an OOS 4 year.

Don’t worry bear, I haven’t heard from any of the UC’s that I’ve applied to yet also. I’ve only heard back from CSU Long Beach, which is no UC.

Yes, in at UCSD, UCSC, and UCR. Econ major btw

@derpinitman
did you take any summer courses or any CC courses before this fall?

@bearterritory
ya i took 2 classes last summer, and 1 class during high school for a total of 9 semester units.

Maybe that’s it. I went in with 0 units this fall. So I had no grades before the update.

Yeap UCSD one year. still waiting for rest

@bear, well I took a class at my CC during high school, and I had an AP class articulated. These two classes totaled in 8 units, but I still didn’t hear from any UC. I don’t think going in with any units had anything to do with us not hearing back yet.

Yessir, I got into UCI with Regents, and into UCSD already, and I am a one year transfer.

you applied with 0 units? what are you doing? 30 unit semesters?

i’m a one year transfer from an out of state university (top 15 usnews if anyone cares). ucsb rejected me because i was missing the foreign language requirement for the english major. sucks especially badly because i’m from santa barbara and hey, who doesn’t want to go back home? i took 22 units both semesters which has been akin to torture [not that i actually have experience with torture but i can imagine]. i figure it’s a good sign that i haven’t heard back from others because it means they didn’t auto reject me. also i’m fully prepared to go to city college next year if it doesn’t work out, but i figured i would give it a try. my top choice is berkeley… big surprise. i know ucla, irvine, and san diego will all reject me because they have the same language requirement as sb but oh well. hopefully i’m helping fund the university.

I had 21 ap. units so I took 30 (3.9 gpa)units first semester and 26 (4.0 so far)this semester. I think they’re taking longer on making my decision because I have no residency units.

It’s not me, but I know someone who’s transferring in one year. He get like 3 4~5’s on AP exams, took classes at a local community college during high school,
and he took four classes during summer right after college at two different community colleges.

So basically, he started with like 25 units-

@ravous I remember you getting rejected on the UCSB thread with a high GPA. Did they give you a rationale for your rejection?

I feel like us one-year transfers are looked down upon by admissions officers. No offense to the 2+ year transfers, but I think the fact that we take 20+ units/semester with high GPAs (3.8+) clearly shows that we are head and shoulders above the other applicants. The pattern of rejections for people with pre-reqs and english/math IP during the spring is complete nonsense.

i had my english/math completely covered by ap units so i doubt they looked fondly on that but come on…

@hellothere5
i was held up an additional year, well, 2.5 years total at CCC because of one class, and the lack of spring semester admittance. i stuck it out and it worked out okay, banning spring admits is not saving anyone any money. keeping me in a CCC for an additional year cost the state far more money than hiring more people to read spring applications. sometimes i really wonder about these people making these “Cost efficient” decisions. haha. good luck, hope you get into CAL this year, or next, if need be.
