Online AP Class help. Which one do I chose?

Okay so I am going to be a senior and my school schedule is not how I want it to be right now so I decided I am going to take a AP class online. I have a few choices to chose from but I want one that won't make my senior year too stressful. Here are my choices: AP Computer Science A, AP World History, and AP European History. I honestly do not know which one to chose. I don't really have many options cause I have taken most of the AP's I wanted to take. Is AP Computer Science hard? Is there a lot of math involved? I pretty good with computers but I am not sure if this would be a subject I am good at. The only thing I don't like about the AP histories is that they usually involve a lot of writing, which I do not mind doing, but I do not want to have too much on my plate. Would one of these be easier than the others. My current majors that I am considering are either business or maybe economics. I like almost all subjects except math, so idk.... I might end up loving computer science and might want to major in that.. What should I chose!?

I took AP Euro sophomore year and it put me through hell. That being said, I’ve heard that AP World is an easy 5, so if self studying, I’d go with that. In regards to AP Comp Sci, unless you have a SOLID background in Java and with computers in general, I’d stay away from it.

You heard wrong. APWH is consistently among the subjects with the lowest percentage of 5’s, with 6.4% of testers scoring a 5 this year.

The workload in AP Euro and AP World is comparable, but there is less breadth in AP Euro. I agree that you should have a background in Java before attempting AP Comp Sci.

Ok so I do not have a background in java, so I am basically down to taking AP World History online or AP Euro…

@skieurope‌ I wouldn’t know because I don’t really have much experience with it, so thanks for the clarification!
I still think @NCgirl2015‌ should be better off taking Euro though, simply because of my terrible experience with it. It might just be because of how it is taught at my HS, because everyone finds it too difficult. I think since they are both really challenging courses, go with the one you think you would enjoy more, because that tends to make things easier

Honestly, if you’ll be doing AP Computer Science through Florida Virtual HS (or an online provider that derives its materials through FLVS), it’s not too bad. I went into my online provider’s AP Comp. Sci class with zero Java knowledge and struggled a little, but the workload is quite flexible, depending on the teacher. Though I didn’t end up with the coveted 5 (I got a 4) on the AP exam, I don’t regret taking the class. The exercises/assignments required a decent amount of problem solving ability but it was an easy high-A, since assignments were plenty and tests were few. Plus, if your intention is to take AP Comp. Sci just for fun, you don’t even need to care much about the AP exam. In fact, the class was taken by 4 of us at my school (3 seniors and me, a junior) and only 2 of us took the AP exam.

I don’t know much about the WHAP and Euro, so my recommendation is wait for responses from people who have taken those classes online, but definitely don’t rule out AP Computer Science as an option. If you are a STEM-type of person, AP Comp. Sci. becomes an even more advisable option.

I would be taking the class through NCVPS. Thanks for all the suggestions/tips.

Grows some and take that AP physics 1,2, or C. I’m in a over seas school and I’m enrolled on the line for AP physics 1 next school year as a senior.

@Te4mVygrin‌ that is also an option, but I have no plan to be an engineer or physicist in the future, so it doesn’t really interest me…

lol @ AP physics 1 being “growing some”

bro where are your integrals? no derivatives? what a shame.

@‌ NCgirl2015 I find that if you enjoy history, you won’t really mind the writing. When I took APUSH junior year (I’m a rising senior now like you) everyone said there was a lot of writing but I didn’t really notice it because I love history. And by love I mean rabid adoration bordering on obsessesion lol. So I think you’ll be find with either AP Euro, which I’m taking online this year, or AP World.

I had a couple of friends who took AP Computer Science online, and they found the online version to be extremely difficult and some ended up dropping the class. I took AP Government online because my school only offered two AP classes and I found it to be fairly enjoyable and easy to manage. I took AP Euro in a classroom setting in school my sophomore year and truly hated it; I don’t know anything about AP World History. Online APs, especially history ones, are a ton of writing, so if you don’t like writing then you probably wouldn’t like the course. All the teacher really has to grade you on are your essays and tests. I usually had 4 or 5 short essays and 1 or 2 long ones per week, plus 1 or 2 quizzes and a test about every other week. It honestly wasn’t bad, but I really enjoy writing. Plus, with AP Gov, a lot of the essays were opinion-based. If AP Gov were one of your choices, I would go with that. But of the three you listed, I would perhaps go with World History.

I think I might go with AP World. I took AP Gov in class, so that is not an option sadly
