So, for the short essays on the online app, does anyone know how stringent the 300 character rule is? I honestly don’t think I can write such a short essay that owuld still be admissions worthy! Is it more of a “suggestion” or a “follow this or we won’t admit you” sort of thing? Thanks

I'm sure they won't count the characters and the box does let you write more than 300. However, I would be safe and stick to the 300 character limit they suggest.

I answered in less than 300 for both but I also did the online app and it restricted my characters. They were pretty basic answers but I tried to show through in my 2-3 sentence answers. I wouldn't worry about your character length, I found out 2 days ago I have a minor spelling error on my activities sheet (varsity spelled as varisty) and even after i had 5 people read over my app, no one noticed...and spelling errors are application suicide but I'm hoping since the other didn't notice, maybe they won't either? Oh well, SO nerve wracking

I didn't think it even allowed you to submit more than the 300 characters - but I might be wrong about that. The paper app has a very small space for the short essay answers as well, and my guess is that you should keep it that short.

300 characters = 3 lines = they don't give a s hit what you write

I did the paper app and a friend of mine did the online app. She was kind of surprised to find how much less appears to be expected on those short essays for the paper app (3 lines. you're not supposed to attached) than for the online app.

The box online restricts you from writing more than 300 characters. You can't submit it if you have more than that.

I did my application online, and they will not let you save the page it the answer is over 300 characters- that includes spaces, punctuation, etc.

Its really not that big a deal. They are very minor answers and the just want an honest legit answer...what do you like to do for fun, and who would you like to study under and why...you dont need to start giving names of your friends and start listing the professors awards...its simple
