online applications

Hi,
I am about to start the application process for med schools. I wanted to know if all the schools have their secondary applications online? Or is it on paper and they mail it to you? Also, I wanted to know what the secondary application process entails. Like do you just have to write essays, or is there more to it?
Thanks for the help.

Varies from place to place.

I applied to the following schools through AMCAS: Nebraska, Kansas, Creighton, Missouri, MichState, Tufts and BostonU. If I remember correctly Tufts was online, Creighton's app was online but you had to print it off and mail it in though you could type on the form. The rest were paper and mailed.

Some schools have essays - BlueDevilMike did a lot of applications to a far more private schools than I did, and many of them had multiple essays. I think only had to write one essay and I think that was for Tufts explaining why I applied there.

Most state schools are less likely to have complex secondaries (and are cheaper!)

Most are online. Most involve essays (some as many as 9), all involve money.

All told, I wrote 55 essays.

And BRM is probably right in general, but for my specific case, my state schools were worse than the private schools. (Comes from being in CA.)
