Hello! My college plans have been kind of a hot mess as of recent, and I’d like to get your opinion on them. I live in Hawaii and did not want to move away from home for college. The college here only offers one Bachelors’s degree which I was not interested in, so I just took prerequisite courses last semester. At the same time, I applied to ASU online for an Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance degree. It covers many art forms, yet still is a “regular” degree and looks alright on a resume. Although I was accepted, I was for some reason not accepted into that program and was shifted into a Liberal Studies degree. They explained that eventually, I may be able to switch over to the degree I wanted, but I really don’t want to have to spend time and money on random courses such as those. While waiting for their response, I found an art school that offers online degrees, Rocky Mountain College of Arts and Design. It’s a little cheaper, and I could study completely in illustration or animation! The degree would be a BFA. If I had the option to go to a larger online art school I would, however, this is the only affordable one we could find.
I’ve been a pretty dedicated student through the years, and this art college doesn’t really look at your high school GPA (they also have a 100% acceptance rate). It’s a bit discouraging that I put so much effort into my grades when the college I go to won’t be looking at them. I’m basically just getting a degree because you need one for many jobs, but I want to make sure that the place I end up going will be worth it. What would you do? Thank you!
