Hey guys,

So I love chemistry but as a freshman I'm forced to take Honors Bio. However, I plan to do AP Chem next year. No matter what. But I want to start learning now, so I figured that I could do an online course of Honors Chem to introduce me to the material as well as give me some Chemistry to do in the meantime. The course is independently studied, though the suggested time says 6 months, so I figure that I would be done around June or July. The course that I am talking about is CTY's Honors Chemistry course, and I can get financial aid for it (I would have to buy the textbook, that's all) if my financial aid application is accepted. Without financial aid, it costs $600, way too much for my family to pay. The course also comes with tests, a final, and a teacher that can help you in real time. Pretty luxurious :)

CTYOnline - Honors Chemistry

MIT also has a free course, with lessons in the form of videos, but no teacher to help.

Is it worth it to take such a course (I'm talking about the CTY one). Have any of you taken a CTY course (specifically science?) and have anything to say about them?

Thanks in advance :)
