I have noticed on the forums that many students have said that they moved to “Online Classes”. Are these students meaning that they are taking true online classes through a program like Access or are they doing Distance Learning? Distance Learning is the using Programs like Zoom, Hangout Meet, and Google Classroom for over the web teacher to student interaction.(Distance learning can even be sending work via mail or hand delivery)
At our house it’s distance learning. Purdue profs are using a combination of zoom, web x, blackboard, and their internal Boiler system.
At my school and at all of my friends’ schools, it’s distance learning, where we use the programs you mentioned. We’ve all been calling it “online school”, since we’re doing it online, and up until now, I never realized that it could be confused for actual online school programs. Based off of my own experiences, I’m guessing that they mean distance learning, since I don’t think there’s a lot of people shifting to true online courses for less than one semester,
At my school and most in the area, we are using Edgenuity. Any classes not on Edgenuity are conducted via Classroom. For those without access, they are sent paper packets to complete.
All my friends, both high school and college, are distance learning.
I haven’t a clue but I know that my kids use a computer and their regular teachers are involved. I believe my high school daughter is primarily using google programs. Her classes do on meet live but she goes to office hours if she has questions etc. My college daughter is probably mostly zoom and live classes at regular times with the entire class (though her finals ended Wednesday.
