ONLINE CLASSES

Hi. I hope this is not a weird question: How come I can’t find Spanish classes online? My son has finished his major with the exception of 2 foreign language classes. He wants to take Spanish. He needs it to get his degree. At this time he is working in law enforcement so his schedule changes. Online classes fit him. Thanks in advance for your help.

Any suggestions of other foreign language that might be taught online if Spanish is not available?

Have you asked the school district? We have this at our district dual enrollment with the community college or via the school … avoid anything not accredited

What about Oregon State? https://ecampus.oregonstate.edu/online-degrees/undergraduate/foreign-languages/

Try BYU Online, or the U of Wisconsin self-paced online classes: https://il.wisconsin.edu/course-catalog/?view=grid&order=asc&cat_subject%5B%5D=subject-languages&cat_delivery%5B%5D=Online&page=2

Hold on check with your school district first they might offer it for free! My son is taking English dual enrollment and it’s free 6 college credits

A few years ago I took an online Spanish class through ASU. It was very flexible as far as timing and straightforward, definitely recommend it!

Have you looked into the local community college? It’d be more likely that your local community college will have a relationship with his institution for transfer credits.

Whatever classes he considers he absolutely should speak to his academic advisor at college and get the foreign language classes approved in advance in writing by his home college. FWIW my S’s college would only accept classes taken in person at a 4 year accredited college – other colleges are more lenient.

I would seriously tell him to speak with his advisor. If your talking about the last two classes needed for his degree they often need to come from the school granting the degree. I would look into this before spending any money on classes that might not used for a degree.

School district? As in Elementary, Middle and High School?

Well, to reply to everyone at once: His degree is in criminal justice. So he needs foreign language classes to complete his degree. At this time, he’s a full time employee. I will also check if they’ll accept online courses. thx

ASU is $500+ per credit hour. Ouch!

Hi. Local colleges don’t have online Spanish classes.

@ $297 per credit hour, sounds doable.

BYU has the lowest price. $822 for a 4 credit hours course. Thx
