Hey, I wanted to get as many opinions as possible about these new online college choice sites that are popping up all over the place. You can google it, and you find tons. You tell them things like desired location, avg SAT and GPA, your SAT and GPA, desired selectivity, programs you're interested in, urban/rural, etc. Princeton Review has one, Kaplan, etc...but there are also more obscure ones, like Destination U, Gocollege.com...
I've used them and sometimes I get really weird college options, other times, they match me really accurately, or at least I think. What do you guys think about these sites? Are they helpful? Or are they risky? What are your experiences with them?
I also have a friend who put too much trust in one and ended up making the wrong decision, so I just wanted to get a dialogue going on this.
Thanks!

bumpppppppppppppp

I used the College Board one at the beginning of my college search, but only as a tool to give me ideas, which I would then take a look at and decide on my own about whether or not a school was good for me. I'm currently considering 5 out of the 33 schools it gave me. They're good for giving you suggestions and helping you think about what you want in a college or university, but you still need to evaluate the schools on your own for whether or not they fit you.

thanks! bumpppp

anyone? no? just anything you might find about them. try one out and see if it predicts you right!
