Does your school give you credit toward high school for taking an online course?

My school has this thing called "Option 2", where you can apply to the school board to get credit for a course outside of school. You fill in a form with all the credentials of the program that you are going to do, and then they have a committee that decides if you should get credit, and how much credit you should get. I applied with a course to it, and got approved (even though I didn't end up doing it). You have to take the mid-term and final exams if you are doing it to replace a course offered at the school, but I guess you wouldn't actually have to do anything other than show proof that you went if you wanted credit for another course.

Is the committee really strict when it comes to accepting outside course credit?

Only with the official state provider... or else there's no way to get credit.
