I am considering taking some high school courses online next semester.
Where will I find the best programs?
Any recommendations based on personal experience?

I’ve taken them through Northwestern’s [Gifted Learning Links :: Gifted LearningLinks](Online Programs | Northwestern Center for Talent Development)
I like them, but they’re very expensive.
[CTYOnline | JHU CTY](http://cty.jhu.edu/ctyonline/index.html) is similar.
[Online High School and Middle School | The Keystone School](http://keystoneschoolonline.com/) courses are cheaper, but I’m not sure about the quality. When I emailed them they kept assuming I was trying to enroll full-time.
I think you can take courses out-of-state from FLVS.
Stanford EPGY has courses in certain subjects (mostly math).
Or you could just study the subject on your own and take your school’s final. That’s free.

To take courses here as a high school student, do you have to have already taken the SAT or ACT?

No, but without tests you will need to submit a current report card and two teacher recommendations.

[Gifted Learning Links :: Eligibility](http://www.ctd.northwestern.edu/gll/program/eligibility/)

This isn’t a program that you can take for credit on your transcript (as far as I know; I could be wrong) but you should check out MIT Open CourseWare (OCW).
