Online Courses

I'm trying to compile a list of programs that offer online classes. And so far I have:

-SUNY Learning network (or whatever it is)
-UC Berkeley Extension Online
-University of Michigan-Flint Online

Anyone know of any other programs?

Keystone High School.

www.keystonehighschool.com

Very cheap - Around $200, but no AP's.

I have taken two classes at CCS Web Academy. It is www.ccswebacademy.net. They have quite a bit of great classes, from regular to honors, and even AP. My school pays for the classes. I think that they are 400 bucks if you do not have some type of affiliate thing with your school and them. I am also planning on enrolling in a few AP courses via www.apexlearning.com... They have several classes as well.

Does anyone if the Apex classes are any good and worth the money? Are the time consuming?

thanks

im a junior this year and have two questions:
1. Will colleges see that I took this course(s)
2. Is it even worth taking an AP class online and taking before/during senior year, if it's not through my school i.e online class

I'm thinking about taking courses over the summer. So I can't answer that question. Sorry. :)

bcon,

colleges should see that you took the classes. my classes are on my transcript as if i took them at my school. if it didn't show up on your transcript and you didn't get credit for it, i dont think i would even do an online course, i would stick with self-studying... i think it would be worth it to take it although it isn't through your school... it shows that you are dedicated and taking classes outside of school... also, it increases you amount of AP classes.. Also, there is a chance that you get college credit... i think it is definitely worth it...

i am also considering taking a class over the summer.. however, i am a bit worried about taking an AP class and then not taking the exam until the following summer. I don't know how well i would do on an exam so long after i completed the course... but i think i am gonna go ahead and take it, and then go back like every month or so to review. it should stay fresh if we do that...

I was thinking more like online college credit classes.

ohh... do most colleges allow you to do this so then you won't have to take them during college? or do you just take them to get hiigh school credit for classes that aren't offered at your high school... could you explain? thanks

If they don't let you transfer that credit, then the least it will do is that it'll give you the edge to a similarly qualified candidate with no college credit classes. :)

The ideal situation is to take classes at your top choice, but none of my top choices offer college credit classes (NYU, UMich, UChicago), so I'm trying to take it at the most recognized program possible.

do you know if unc chapel hill has anything like this? i am still unsure where i want to go to school but i am pretty certain i want to go to unc... i want to go somewhere nearby (i live in nc)... i wanted the college to have a pharmacy program.. and that is the best one that i know of that is fairly nearby... any other suggestions?

Some of them have probably been mentioned.

oh, keystone high school's $200 includes textbook!

ummmmm i really want to take an online course but i think its too hard to do it virtually- im sticking with regular honors geometry in 9th grade and not trying to get ahead and being weird.

How much does Virtual High School cost?

SNL is really easy to use :)
