Online Decision Notification

An insider with the Harvard admissions office revealed that they're having full committee meetings until the 9th, then final review on the 10th and 11th. They get their decisions around the same time as us, so I expect the Yale schedule is approximately the same.

I regret telling people I applied early. I mean, personally, I have no idea how to react when someone is rejected from their First-Choice. A hug might be too much, saying "they don't deserve you" is VERY phony, "oh, you'll be happy anywhere" is true, yet annoying, and .... yeah, it'll all just be very awkward.

Ohh that's brilliant, lindseylujh! Thanks for that info!
That means the board could be deciding any one of our fates sometime this week...maybe even today....maybe even right now......[shivers]
Would the admissions board be meeting at 9:00 PM? [ponders]

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that some of us have already been voted on.

Thanks very much, lindsey. Although thinking about the fact that some of us probably /have/ been voted on... Eee. Maybe I shouldn't have asked. ;) I only hope my first quarter grades will get to them in time. Hopefully it'll push me over the edge from rejected to deferred. I've got my fingers crossed!

Oh dtown, you have a much better status than "borderline deferral!"

I think the good thing about actually finding out a day before most people think you're going to find out is that it gives you about 24 hrs to get yourself together and be able to handle the people who ask questions. (or avoid them by getting in bed and pulling the covers over your head) So I've decided it's better to tell friends that the results will be out on the 16th and secretly hope that they come out on the 15th.

dtown, don't be silly. You're a member of the 1600 club. I TRULY doubt that you will be rejected.

dtown you have soooo many qualifications. You have great odds.

Aaah! You guys are way way way too nice. You don't need to comfort me or anything; I think I'll most likely be deferred, but there's a chance I'll be rejected straight out. I'm not the kind of person who'll be pessimistic just so I'll end up correct or pleasantly surprised; I'm just realistic. :)

I think when people ask me "so, did you find out about Yale?" I'll pretend I dont know what they're talking about...as if it NEVER happened. Denial aint just a river in Egypt. :) I love denial.

dtown: I might seem like a hypocrite... I myself hate it when people are like "oh come one ... you are brilliant ... you're in! what are you worried about?"
But I'm not trying to mollify you. I'm being realistic, too =]

My stomach is turning upside down right now. =[ And I was doing so fine until now. At least I'm glad I haven't told anyone in my school that I applied early.

Do any of you know when the mail is sent? Will they come before or after the results are posted online? I live in NY, if that makes any difference.

This is a little late, but my college counselor talked to the area Yale Admissions rep. He said that we can look on the 15th, even though Yale officially says the 16th.

I think the best way to console someone who didn't get in is: "Yo, it's their ****ing loss man.. it's their loss." Because its true. The college loses each time it turns down all you stellar intellectuals :)

Next Wednesday, before the gloaming, the results should be posted.

shudders i'm so scared of rejection. acceptance is unexpected obviously, but before seeing the columbia decisions, i thought rejection at ea was out of the question. looks like it might happen... :(

Hmm..that's a good point. I imagine, however, that the decisions are final by now.

And that makes me SO nervous!

another fellow virginian! are you going to apply to uva/wm?
