is there somewhere that you had to sign up for an email decision, or do they just do it automatically?

yeah, there was something in the news for a brief moment back in December when a boy from NJ jumped off his high school roof because he had been rejected at Princeton early.
But I echo the thoughts of xtopher333, don't do it. It's not worth it.

according to this thread:

Columbia releases decisions on March 28 5pm EST. Can anyone verify that? Im aware of the Ivy agreement, but does anyone has specific info? Has Columbia said anything about it?

Does anyone have the answer to MusicNut7's question? Do you have to sign up for email notice?

Also, what email address does Columbia use. On another Ivy thread there was a discusion of getting email communication on email addresses that the applicant did not even remember giving the college, like form my space and face book.

they gave you an id number...should start with C00 then a number. and then you made the password. this was a couple months ago...long time ago.

I can officially confirm that it is the 30th. I have an email from the Admissions Office stating so much.

Columbia2002 has spoken.

Sorry to burst your bubble buddy, but that thread is from the '06 decisions...

Hi Folks,

Turns out they are mailing decisions in the first week of April as per this site. Although I recall reading somewhere on their website that decisions will be posted on-line on March 29th, I can't seem to find it just about now.
Gotta hunt for it.

Important Dates & Deadlines
November 1, 2006

First Week of April -
Admissions: Decision letters mailed to Regular Decision candidates. Invitations mailed for on-campus and regional programs for admitted students.

Hello all,

I went to the https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=COL-U website and here's the official word from the school:

Columbia University Admissions Decisions
We are nearing the end of our application review process and will soon notify all first-year candidates of our admissions decisions. You may view your decision online. We plan to post all admissions decisions online on Thursday, March 29, 2007, at 6:00pm (Eastern Time).

Please log in via the User Login box to your right. If you have forgotten your PIN or password, you may search for it in the User Login box as well.

Keywords: "We plan..."

But hey, why wouldn't they? Good luck to all! Here's to a long crapshot of mine.

Cheers!

And once logged in to the online application website, the page says:

Please click on the "Decision Status" link, which is below the Application for Admission: Part I, to check your admissions decision.

koifish, stupid question. I went to the admissions website, but the online application can't be accessed anymore, at least for me it didn't come up. Can you walk me through it?

Is anyone else still able to access your completed application, and if so, please tell me what you are clicking on. thanks

Nope can't either.

Quick Q> I have just won a major award but was wondering whether I should update Columbia about it? Is it worth it at this point?

mahras:

Maybe if you email, but at this point, it's unlikely that they'd a) get the email or b) if they did, that it would change anything. Most likely your fate has already been decided one way or another.

CMA1,

Well, once you're at the site https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=COL-U

See that to the right, there's a User Login box with "PIN" and "Password" entry.

When you decided to apply online, you had a specific PIN e-mailed to you when you registered for a new online application account. This is NOT the "C00..." ID.

Type in your PIN and password and log in.

Once you log in, you'll see that your applications Part I and Part II are completed (Woo!) and then you'll see a note about the notification process, which reads (as typed previously):

Please click on the "Decision Status" link, which is below the Application for Admission: Part I, to check your admissions decision.

Hope that helped. =D

what's odd is that I emailed admissions, and someone responded that in a couple of days we will advise of the exact time and date of notifications. Thanks for the heads up though.

yeah
I know some other ivy schools such as yale, princeton and brown have already sent emails to their applicants notifying the exact time and date.

i got it too

I got my email notification today about how to check for your decision from the admissions office.

It says that they will mail on the 28th and it is available online the 29th. So, you will receive a written and email.

Available online 3/29 @6PM.
