online/email notification of admission?

I know Choate and Deerfield have this set up, where you can track your application status and know their decisions on March 10 online. What other schools do you know that either give you the option of setting up an account like this or would email their decisions to you on March 10?

Exeter has an online account to track your application. Not sure if they email you the acceptance or not though...

hotchkiss has that i believe

Mercersburg Academy allowed us to log onto their website at 12:00 AM March 10th to find out their admission decision. We called the admissions dept to check the status of D's application.

Andover: has on-line system to track documents for your file. As of last year, NO on-line notification of admissions decision, except to international students.

There are some threads from last year that talk about who has on-line notification of the decisions. Those threads were created closer to March 10th. Off the top of my head, NMH, Choate, Hotchkiss, and St. Paul's all had on-line notification of admission decision last year.

From what I understand, the living circumstances of some families warrant online notification. I have no idea what those circumstances are, but calling is a great option for everyone. Lets say you are on spring break in March, I would call the admissions offices personally. March 10th is a tuesday by the way.

Not sure what you mean by:

It is unlikely that admissions offices will give out decisons over the phone. I would NOT call them on March 10th. Some schools only mail the decision on March 10th, so you may not get something for a few days. Andover stated on its web site last year something to the effect that they would only give decisons over the phone beginning on March 14th, if you hadn't already heard by then.

As March 10th approaches, the schools will provide more information as to how they will notify you. Right now, I would concentrate on working on the applications, and make sure that your parents are doing what needs to be done for the financial aid forms.

Last year Deerfield did not have online/email acceptances. You could, however, track your application online to be sure all the pieces were in. In fact, they are still (as of last year) one of the schools that does not accept electronic applications.

NMH sends decisions via email (it may be to an online link but you get an email to get there).

Linda, was there a password to get the decision? (NMH)

I take back what I said about Deerfield. Linda S is right. You can track the status of your application but it is nowhere said that you can get the admission decision online. With Choate, it is definitely there. As Hotchkiss and Andover, they are using the same system (you only need one user account) for you to file an online application, but I don't even see a link for you to check the status of your application. Did I miss something?

To track the application for Andover, go here:

Phillips Academy - My Andover

It is a bit confusing, with different log-ins. Just be aware that it can take some time for things to show up as being received, since they get so many materials. But, everyone in the admissions office was really very friendly and helpful last year!

Umm Deerfield does send admission decisions via emails, but this only applies to international applicants. I received theirs through email last year

I don't know about the NMH thing - we didn't apply, but many others here did, so I'm sure they can answer better.

binhnguyen2907 - I was stating the general policy about Deerfield, it's not the "norm" for them - only for international students.
I think a few other schools may do that as well for internationals, but I'm not certain. I know one student in Asia who got a few via email and had to wait on the others. Not sure if the email ones would have emailed everyone though.

May vary by school. When S was applying to schools (3 years ago) I called one to ask since we were leaving on spring vacation. The letters had been mailed that day, so the Director of Admissions told me what the decision was for S.

One school (Westminster) told us that we could call on the 10th. However, last year was unique because the 10th was on a Sunday. Some schools mailed on Saturday and some on Monday (most on Saturday as we received 5 decisions on Monday the 11th). I beleive they will most likely mail **on **Tuesday the 10th this year.
However, you can certainly ask admissions. We did so last year (because of the Saturday) and they were all happy to share the info.

Exeter had their decision on-line last year. And all the schools my daughter applied to specifically sent letters saying NOT to call. We received some notifications by mail on the 10th and some later. Most schools send acceptances via overnight mail so that you will receive it on the 10th.

Andover says if you haven't received the decision by March 16, call. They must not be using overnight mail. How about Exeter? We've never received login info from them. Do any of you have access to an online account of some sort for Exeter? What other schools post decisions online or notify by emails? I don't think Andover does. What about Exeter and Hotchkiss?

I havn't received anything from Exeter... I got everything from Andover to check my status. Hotchkiss gave me a site after I turned in my app... Maybe it is the online check list.

Why not just wait till the mail comes in. Is this like planning to check it at 12:01 or something? Or is it on the internet waaayyy before the mail comes?

Ok, I'm confused also... how do I figure out my Exeter online login info? I didn't get anything like that, any e-mail notifications stating that they got my app, nothing...

Help? Please? :]
