My D wants to take Environmental Science (category g - elective) course from BYU (Independent Study/ online). BYU is an approved provider for online courses. But, I didn't see Environmental Science course as an approved course on UC's website.

https://doorways.ucop.edu/list/app/home?execution=e1s2

So, will UC accept this course?

Is she in college or high school?
I imagine that the UCs offer environmental science themselves, which is why they don’t have BYUs course on a approved list.
Normally you can only take courses your school doesn’t offer elsewhere after you matriculated.

She is in high school.

Check with her HS.

Does she need this course to fulfill the a-g requirements or does she just want to take it because she’s interested in it? If it’s the latter then it doesn’t matter what UC thinks of it.

I checked the UCOP site and you’re right - it’s not listed as acceptable for the requirements - but that doesn’t matter as long as she has the requirements already covered.

Looks like the only BYU Independent Study courses that the UCs have said that they will accept for g credit is AP Psychology. Sounds like you’ll have to ask the UCs about the Environmental Science course specifically to get an answer.
