Online Extension Classes

Has anyone here taken online courses from a college extension office? What college did you use, and what course did you take? Would you recommend it?

Thanks.

Online classes typically require alot more work than traditional course work. I took a course at the local CC and found no motivation whatsoever to complete the course promptly, so I had to do the entire course in less than a week. My aunt teaches a course like this and says the dropout rate is 50% plus. Great courses if you are truly motivated, but if you are a slacker in any way I would not recommend it.

I took the webmastering class from Texas Tech University. (this was to get rid of high school credit needed.)

To be honest I was really lazy. I had the course since like september and ended up paying to extend the first semester and buying the next semester and finishing both within a week. It sort of screwed me over because temporarily I was taken OFF the list for graduation.

If you’re motivated then yeah, go ahead and do these. But I know one person that bought a course, extended it, and still didn’t finish. And then my other two friends ended up in the same situation as me (finishing the course in a week or so as graduation was right around the corner.)

Do you have tests if your in Online Courses?

I had final exams. We had to find a proctor at our school to administer the exam for us, and then the proctor mailed it.

I had to go to the college for 3 tests and a final in the testing center. Other classes have online tests that you have to complete in a specific time limit.

Was the online texas tech exam hard? I have taken the class but im about to take the exam and im pretty nervous. What should i use to study?
