Online Masters to Brick and Mortar PhD, is it possible?

Is it difficult to get into a traditional brick and mortar University for a Phd after obtaining an online Masters degree from a for-profit University like Walden University or University of Phoenix?

The Masters would be in Psychology.

What PhD’s programs (schools) are you looking at, and were did you get your undergrad? What was your GPA? Do you have GRE scores yet? Then I can tell you if you’ll have a hard time or not. Do you have any experience in counseling, research, or teaching?

What PhD’s programs (schools) are you looking at:
All of the schools are in Florida:
-Palm Beach Atlantic University
-Florida Gulf Coast University
-Barry University
-Nova Southeastern University
-University of Miami
-Florida International University

Were did you get your undergrad: Acadia University; Wolfville, NS (Canada)-- Biology Major
What was your GPA: 2.46
Do you have GRE scores yet: 480-V; 330-Q, 3.5-AW
Do you have any experience in counseling, research, or teaching?: No; Only Biological research at Acadia

Is that your undergrad GPA or Graduate? I need both

That is the Undergrad GPA. I haven’t done the Grad yet but it will be likely done at Walden or UoP.

Okay well so far your first 2 programs dont offer Ph.D’s and Barry requires a 3.25 in your graduate program. If you went to a for-profit university like Walden (skip UoP) you could get into these schools. However, I would reccomend you study up over the next year or two while you finish your grad program and retake the GRE. Also, look into Capella University for an online school…they’re probably the better of them all, with the best reputation. Good Luck!

Thank you so much! Your answer was so helpful. I will do every single thing you suggested!

Also, if you were going to do something online you should check out [WGU</a> Online University | Online Degree Programs, Accredited Bachelor’s and Master’s](<a href=“http://www.wgu.edu%5DWGU”>http://www.wgu.edu) because it is cheaper than any of the others. While it has limited programs it’s actually a state sponsored non profit.
