Where do you guys stand on Online MBA programs offered by traditional business schools with good reputations? For instance, good schools like Indiana University, Duke University and Penn State all have MBA programs that are online.

Would potential employers look down on this? Would they even know? Do you have to indicate on your resume that you took online courses?

I graduate from Rutgers in May and I'm very interested in pursuing my MBA online while working full-time after graduation. The online classes offer a lot of flexibility that traditional classes couldn't.

Would you all still value these degrees highly? Just as high as if they weren't online?

Thanks in advance!

My only problem with them is the importance of networking. I’ve read from a lot of people that the networks they build in business school are oftentimes more important than the courses they take. The networks are what lead to various job opportunities, not just your knowledge.

They do have traditional one-year and part-time MBA programs that you can look into if you are undecided about the online program.

And no, you wouldn’t have to specify the course was online. If it’s through a program that is typically online (e.g., Phoenix), then they’ll know anyway.

Thanks. What about different campuses? Do you have to indicate on your resume which campus you were at?

For instance, would an employer think twice if you just put “University of Massachusetts” on your resume instead of “University of Massachusetts - Lowell”?

Second this question… would it matter if we have access to their career services?
btw, UNC kenan-flagler also has online mba.

I’m still wondering if and how much your campus matters. Do you need to include this on the resume? Will employers ask about it?

I can’t honestly answer that one. Personally I would only put the campus if you’re at one of the better campuses, and not put it if you’re not. If they ask then you’ll just have to answer.
