So, we're almost through submitting essays and parent statements. Gateway to Prep Schools is working better than I had thought. I do think the introductory layout could be improved, with longer explanation of the features available in the student's account. I wasted a certain amount of time on physical aspects of parent statements, as my handwriting's terrible, and we don't own a typewriter. Adding a tab entitled "instructions" at the bottom of the page would help. I don't assume that "Help" means "instructions," I assumed it meant, "How to contact us if you have problems."

I had no concerns about my son reading our parent statement. Some parents might, though, so I think separate tabs for "essays" and "parent statement" should be considered.

Why Gatewaytoprepschools.com? Why not Gatewaytoprepschools.org?

On balance, at this point in the process, online submission of forms is great, because there's no nagging worry about the application's arrival. I also assume that the electronic essays won't be lost, because there's a copy on the server.
