Online SAT prep courses?

I'm trying to decide between getting a private tutor and registering for online SAT courses. Private tutors just seem way to expensive. Does anyone have experience preparing for the SAT online? Are they any good? What are the pros and cons to online courses?

Online courses will have the same content, just without someone guiding you per se

If you have good internet connection or wifi then try online course. In private tutoring you can ask your tutor any question any time you want and rather discuss it properly. In online course, specially during skype talks, maybe you’ll face some technical problem. Otherwise I’ll suggest you to choose the one you can afford and you think you’ll excel in. The course content is the same.

How about some Free online prep?
Go to Reason Prep dot com. Free videos on foundational stuff as well as test strategies. Most is free but small fee if you want the other content. The videos are on youtube.
SATQuantum has free video answers for every CB math question in public domain. Small fee for the SAT math course.
Khan Academy. Has video answers for Math level 1-5 questions of unreleased questions.

Do NOT do the CB online SAT course unless you want the 10 tests. However, you can google “the ultimate sat website” which has lots of CB tests to download.

Tutors are better than group courses because you can focus on your weaknesses with a tutor. However, you need to search for that tutor. I would stay away from the kaplan/PR online sat prep courses.

However, why do you feel you need a tutor? What studying have you done on your own? What prep books have your purchased? Have you taken a fully timed practice test yet?
Do you find it difficult to “self-study”?
