Online schools Accounting - Need opinions

Long story short I'm 28 currently living in Tampa FL, working FT and cannot go to school on campus. I need to take classes online, so far have about 40 undergrad cr total since i last went to school in 2003. I did apply to Northeastern University (College of Professional Studies- Online)- Decision pending. Being that its fully AACSB, fully online NOT a completion program and has multiple fast terms, its my top choice hands down! I wanted to apply to Penn State World Campus but missed cutoff period for enrollment... the chance and scenario that I don't get accepted to NEU CPS, I need at least 2-3 backups to start school by Jan 2012. Now my first option is applying for an online associate in accounting (since I already have about 40 xfrable cr).. once I get the online associate then i have a ton of more online "completion" options to choose from to get my bachelors. Option 2 would be to just try and get CHEAP online credits to complete my required 60 cr to apply to all these schools. My only concern is the fact of not being able to transfer any credits to an AACSB bachelors later on due to the earlier credits are not from an aacsb school to begin with?!... with all this in mind if I were toget an online associate I'm leaning towards these options :
- Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU)
- Florida Institute of Technology (FIT)
- University Maryland University College (UMUC)
- University of Toledo - A.S. in Acct Tech

Any advise, suggestions, information or experiences would be appreciated, thanks!

I suggest you do not take any upper level business or accounting courses with the intention of transferring them. This way you will not have to worry about whether your associates school is AACSB.

In fact, I wouldn’t even worry about whether the associates is in accounting. Just make sure you include your standard lower level course sequence for a business major - 6 credits of accounting principles, 6 credits of economics principles, business calculus, etc.

Thanks for the reply… While I’m still waiting on NEU,I’ve narrowed it down to a A.S. Business Management at Ball State University in IN, it’s AASCB- accredited with 10 week terms… OR… SNHU since its real CHEAP @ $311/cr and I dont really think the AS will matter as much once i get the BS… Any thoughts anyone?

You are right to focus on AASCB colleges. They have a referral list from the web site of colleges. There is also a NY state college that has accounting completely online. Price is reasonable.

SO I’ve been researching non-stop for the past 3 months and still considering a #2 (Plan B Option)… I’ve decided that I will probably get my AA from FL State College Jacksonville… Fully online, accelerated terms, CHEAP $99/cr!!!..(since I already have about 30-40 xfrble credits currently) once I get that I can double my options for bachelor completion programs… I’ve also thought of using that AA to apply to UF business school online BS degree in Bus Admin, and Uconn’s Masters in Accountancy afterwards to get to take the CPA (2 #19 ranked schools)… any thoughts on that path? vs Northeastern University’s online Finance and Accounting Management degree followed into a (Dual BS in IT from UMASS LOWELL or Masters in Accountancy from UCONN - debatable)…then the CPA?.. any advise would be appreciated…
