Did anyone who applied yesterday look up their status today? D's shows test scores and transcripts received which is wonderful they have it all matched up already. UF is still not showing transcripts received and they were sent a month ago.

Question though, on the online status check, it shows Non-Florida residency. We are definitely in-state and I faxed the affidavit right after submitting the app. Perhaps they just haven't matched up the fax with the application yet. Anyone else's showing like that?

Same thing happened to me 3 years ago about residency. Give them a call about it not matching up, just in case they don't change it. I don't remember exactly what I did, but it was something simple, like faxing a copy of something stating I was in-state.

It is showing correctly now. I don't know whether it was the email that prompted them to look for the affidavit I faxed yesterday, or just a minor timing issue. Anyway, they have transcripts, test scores and everything showing after just one day.

The FSU application was so much more user friendly than UF. No glitches either on the first day.

I just checked my son's status and even tho he applied on 8/4 it says date applied is 8/5. No big deal really it's just that he went to a lot of trouble to apply the first day it went online.

Just a question for tzais - when did you send the transcripts for FSU?

My daughter requested them from her school on 6/30. We found out that they send the official paper copies, not electronic. Nevertheless, FSU and UCF immediately showed them as received when she applied, but UF has yet to recognize that they've received them.

Rudysmom, my D's also shows 8/5 when she applied early on 8/4. This must coincide with the fact that they said it takes a business day for them to get uploaded into the system. I bet noone's shows 8/4 given both of our examples.

when i applied last year, my residency took a long time to show up as in state. i can't remember if i had to call and ask someone about it, but it eventually got changed, with plenty of time to spare :]

I applied on the first day, and I also have 8/5. I had the transcripts sent electronically yesterday, and also mailed a copy. Probably a dozen or more (of a class of 90) of the seniors last year had problems with the electronic transcripts - my good friend tried to send them three times with our transcript office, and they didn't make it until Jan/Feb- pushing him to the second notification date.

Its really great to hear that so many of you encouraged your children to get the app in asap. I think this advice, which I received (from fellow cc members)when our s was applying, was the best advice we could have gotten. this year, with only two deadline's for admission, it is even more imprtant than ever.

Remember, to have the student follow up periodically with admissions via email with any additional information that could emhance the app. Also, just emailing a periodic question or two to an admissions rep could help as well.

good luck to all new applicants and ..... Go Noles!

our s heads home friday after what has turned out to be a great summer session for him. He is so happy he decided to go in the summer. It has been a tremendous experience for him.

Has anyone checked their (or their kid's) status lately? Being new at this online app. thing, and this is the first school my son has applied to so far, I'm not sure what else this Online Status Check will show, or the purpose.

It states they have received my son's transcripts but I know that his high school said they will not be sent until Sept. 15th!

The status check says his application for admission is ready for review.

He is taking the ACT again on Sept. 13 for hopefully a higher score. Will this throw off the process if a new score is sent?

They probably have electronic access to your son's transcript, either via FACTS or via direct access to your son's high school as many schools use a computerized transcript. His FSU calculated GPA uses only core acedemic courses anyway so what they can see on FACTS is all they need. (Clarification, I posted that assuming your instate. Since your not, I'm not sure unless your school did already send it out.

They will review the Sept ACT scores and it will not throw off the process. If he is a go, it probably doesn't matter on the new scores. If he is close/borderline the will be reviewed and might put him in. If he was a no-go and the scores were great, he gets another look, so plan on sending the scores. They can't hurt. If any of the subsections are better they go in, and if not they don't. They really only look at the superscores. From what I understand, they scores are reviewed by someone who only inputs into the computer the subscores that are better than before. The committee only sees what it ultimately input into the computer. So it only helps at this point.

Ready for review is good! My D took a late SAT, and MOST CERTAINLY needed a better math score to be accepted. The SAT was in OCT and the results came back first of Nov and she heard yes on Nov 28th, so don't hesitate to have him take the ACT. Sept is even better, plenty of time for scores to be available.

I applied on August 4, mailed residency form on August 5, and sent transcript (both electronically as well as on paper) on August 6. Residency showed up as received on Monday, and my transcript was received today.

Under "Admission Decision", it says "Your application for admission is ready for review". Does this mean that they will look at my application now? Is this an advantage?

lorraine, I'm wondering the same thing. But maybe they ALL say that.

I noticed a changed in the status screen yesterday. Last week D's said the application was ready for review as you noted. In the last few days it also added that the essay was received and the admissions decision says "An admission decision will be available December 3, 2008."

I guess it will stay like that until December 3rd.

They do start reviewing well before November, so a completed app for review is great. And yes, the status will stay that way until midnight the morning of 12/3. Although you might get a hint by 5-6 pm on 12/2 by checking under the financial status to see if there is a deposit due. It will be listed about where it shows that the application fee was paid. And if the admissions site is busy at midnight, just try to sign into housing first. Besides, a low housing number is best anyway.

How exciting for you all! D will apply next month, the GC at D's high school told me yesterday that they don't send HS transcripts until mid-September. Also, D wants to take the ACT one more time in September and send those scores; and, she still has to finish her essay.

So all completed applications between now and mid-October (cut-off date) will be decided on 12/3?

has anyone tried to change their application? My son realized that he left out several important pieces of information to his resume and he would like to re-submit his resume. (This is what happens when Mom tries to have him take charge of his applications!!)

We submitted a change form through the site. D's 1st and 2nd semester schedules changed a bit when we got them Friday. Classes didn't change, just the semesters weren't what we had guestimated. I don't think we got any sort of acknowledgement after the change form was submitted.

I think you cannot resubmit the resume, you either email the additions or email a copy of the revised resume.
