I'm pretty sure everyone hear knows about those online websites where there are notes over chapters of textbooks. I've always been strongly against using them, and fail a quiz than use them just out of moral. However, I'm rethinking it...many of the "smart people" use these notes, which is one of the reasons they have straight A's. I'm really thinking about using these but I kinda feel wrong for doing so...

What is your opinion on these? Do you use them?

I had an APUSH class where most people just paraphrased them, or even directly copied, and then turned them in as their own.

I was one of the few who didn’t because that is blatantly cheating. You can’t use someone’s work as your own.

But I did use them to study for some tests when I didn’t read the book well enough for that chapter. There’s nothing wrong with using an online resource to study.

My textbook has a website as well; it advertises it as a free study aid on the inside front cover. Why would you feel guilty about using a resource intended by the textbook makers for you to use?

Making students take notes is counter intuitive, anyway. If you’re not responsible enough to study, you won’t do well. Copying stuff that’s already in your book doesn’t promote writing skills or generate thought or discussion, so if you really want to save some time I would go for it.
